This lesson teaches your class about the history and basic layout of the Bible, using a visual example to help them understand why ancient documents are so important. It also allows them to translate cryptic messages from their own ancient documents.

In this lesson, your class will find out why the Bible is like a library and gives them the opportunity to study the different genres of writing within the Bible. They will find out about the books of the Old and New Testaments before identifying what genre different extracts from the Bible belong to, such as stories, laws or prophecies.

After the children find out about the original languages of the Bible, they will then find out how and when the Bible first started to be translated into the vernacular.
