Moving Pictures

Sliding Mechanisms

The first lesson in this series starts by giving your class the chance to look at a variety of storybooks that have moving parts before they go on to explore ways of using sliders to move objects around the page and to make objects appear and disappear.

This lesson teaches your class about levers and pivots and the different ways in which levers can be used in moving pictures. It then gives your class the chance to explore some of these levers for themselves.

This lesson investigates how wheels can be used in moving pictures in different ways before giving your class the fun task of exploring for themselves how to use wheel mechanisms to make certain parts of a picture move.

The final lesson in this series gives your class the opportunity to show off their finished moving pictures as they share their work with the rest of the class and evaluate their own and others' finished products.
